WET FELTING-SCARF

This technique involves layering strands of wool onto a silk scarf and using water, soap and hand agitation to work the fibers into a single piece. It can also be called Nuno Felting. We will be making a scarf, approximately 15” x 72“. Finished size varies somewhat, based on the amount of felting involved. The technique leaves a lovely fluted edge and can be completed in a single afternoon.

Fee includes all materials but please bring some old towels, a snack or lunch. Dress comfortably. Class will be offered off site; directions are available on registration. A sample may be seen at the Arts and Crafts Center.

NEEDLE FELTING – BLACK CAT

Learn basic needle felting techniques while making great gifts (or keep them for yourself!).  Use this dry felting method to create a black cat to be used as a pin or other decoration--just in time for Halloween! You should be able to wear your pin home.

Needle felting compresses wool fibers together through the use of a single barbed needle. It evolved from using felting machines, but allows more individualized work as you manipulate wool. You can see it used in small sculpted figures, faces, pins, etc in the Center Shop. Students should be comfortable working with a sharp pointed needle.
